Nurturing a Greener Tomorrow in Savaldeh Village, Jim Corbett National Park
At Aahana Resort, we wholeheartedly acknowledge our responsibility to both the environment and the communities we are a part of. With this awareness in mind, we embarked on a meaningful journey eight years ago – a dedicated endeavor to clean and uplift Savaldeh Village.
This initiative is the brainchild of our director Ms. Ayu Tripathi. Taking place on the 10th of every month, our dedicated team of cleanliness warriors, alongside village school children and local women, collaboratively engage in cleaning a designated 1 km stretch around the resort. More than just a cleanliness drive, this monthly event serves as an educational platform, enlightening the young minds about the hazards of plastic waste and the importance of adopting easy alternatives.
During these drives, our young army of children don't just pick up litter, they also gain valuable insights into the detrimental effects of plastic on the environment, children, and livestock. Our objective goes beyond tidying up the village for a day - we aim to instill a sense of responsibility and appreciation for cleanliness as a daily habit.
A key aspect of our commitment to environmental sustainability is the strategic placement of a large dustbin at our back gate. We encourage villagers to dispose of their daily waste in this designated area. The collected garbage is then sorted and treated within our resort premises. This holistic approach not only promotes cleanliness but also emphasizes the importance of waste management.
Under the banner of "Clean Corbett, Green Corbett," our monthly cleanliness drives aim to foster a sense of community involvement. The active participation of local school children and engagement with our valued guests further amplify the impact of these initiatives.
Driven by a singular purpose - to cultivate seeds of awareness and responsibility among the future custodians of our planet – we persist with unwavering dedication month after month.
